Charisse Dawkins, LCSW, CCTP, ECMH-E®
Charisse is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at The Children’s Clinic of Fredericksburg that is endorsed in Early Childhood Mental Health, which is a focus on the multiple relationships in the lives of children birth to 8 years old.
She graduated from the University of South Florida with a Master of Social Work in 2016. Charisse is a U.S. Military veteran with extensive experience working with military families and special health care needs. Charisse has experience working with children, adolescents and adults with trauma, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, mood disorders, and behavioral challenge. Charisse can provide clinical supervision towards licensure and/or reflective supervision for those professionals seeking initial or renewal of an endorsement in Early Childhood Mental Health.
For the past 9 years Charisse has worked providing clinical and consultation services to caregivers and children, specializing in the early childhood population. She incorporates Theraplay skills, expressive arts and play in her clinical work to help build trust in the therapeutic relationship. Charisse is focuses her practice on building healthy relationships between caregiver and child.
Charisse is trained to utilize evidence-based treatment that includes, Strengths-based approaches, Theraplay, Child-centered play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and EMDR. Charisse has excitement and genuine passion for working with children in the preschool and elementary school years on issues of adoption, attachment, trauma, and anxiety who need support.
